What happens after the initial application is submitted?

All applications are reviewed for completeness and eligibility, and then sent to a number of reviewers drawn from the Scientific Advisory Group of Experts (SAGE) and a panel of outside evaluators. Several applicants are selected as semifinalists to be interviewed. Some candidates will be identified after the interviews as finalists for the award, and additional candidates will be recommended to our partners for support.

When are applicants notified of the results of the initial review of applications?

Approximately three months after the application deadline.

If I am not selected, may I reapply?

Yes. Letters of reference, mentor’s information, and the proposal must be new for each year.

When may I start if I am selected?

Start dates may depend on the funder of each specific award.

What happens after finalists are notified?

Finalists are given the opportunity to submit institutional financial and tax information, a four-year budget, and a complete research proposal.

When are finalists notified?

Within a few weeks of the interview.

When and where are the interviews?

For 2025, the interviews will be via Zoom.
