INDIANAPOLIS (August 17, 2026) — The Amos Institute for Medical Faculty Development (AIMFD) is proud to announce today it has been awarded more than $50,000 from Lilly Endowment Inc. to support AIMFD’s work as a new independent organization by helping it develop a fundraising and development plan.
Formerly the Amos Medical Faculty Development Program (AMFDP), AIMFD launched in April 2025 after the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s decision to conclude funding of AMFDP in 2028. AMFDP was created more than 40 years ago through the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and has been in partnership with the Indiana University School of Medicine for more than 20 years.
This organizational transition allows AIMFD to continue to build on four decades of leadership by AMFDP and support the development of medical, dental, nursing, and public health faculty to advance biomedical sciences, inspire and mentor others, and transform healthcare.
“We are deeply grateful to the Endowment for its generous support of Amos Institute,” said David S. Wilkes, MD, CEO of AIMFD. “This strategic grant will accelerate our momentum so that we may continue to meet the needs of more scholars and the changing field of biomedical sciences.”
With the Endowment’s support, AIMFD will be able to identify and bring in new partners, access additional resources, and plan for a sustainable future for the organization.
